Calafató Cove, also known as Calafató Beach, is another hidden gem in l’Ametlla de Mar, located on the Costa Dorada in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. This cove is known for its crystal-clear waters, fine golden sand, and natural beauty. Its peaceful atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the sun and sea. The area is also popular among divers and snorkelers due to its rich marine life.
Despite the rugged nature of much of l’Ametlla de Mar’s coastline, the northern part of this fishing village is home to fine sandy coves, such as Calafat Beach, Calafató Cove, and Lo Ribellet Cove. The dimensions are 15 m wide and 20 m long. Calafató Cove is accessible by car and on foot. It has sandy ground, daily cleaning service, Red Cross surveillance, showers, and toilets. It also has a Blue Flag.

How to get to Calafató Cove?
To get to Calafató Cove by boat from the port of l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, a great option is to rent a boat in Hospitalet de l'Infant and follow the same general route as to Sant Jordi Beach, but continue a little further south. Here are the steps for this trip:
- From the port of l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, sail south along the coastline, keeping the shore on your right.
- You’ll pass by several beaches and coves such as Platja de l'Almadrava, Cala de l’Eucaliptus, and Sant Jordi Beach.
- Keep heading south and you’ll soon reach Calafató Cove.
The distance from the port of l'Hospitalet de l'Infant to Calafató Cove is about 20 kilometers. Depending on your boat’s speed, this trip could take around an hour and a half.
